Marcy Bobell’s enthusiasm to compete along with her compassion for others has brought her success both in and out of the athletic arena. Marcy has learned from her involvement in Special Olympics that it is not just about winning. When she does the best that she can, Marcy has discovered that people will love and support her no matter the outcome. She will demonstrate her best efforts at State Winter Games and as part of the Illinois delegation at the USA National Games in July.
Spread the Word to End the Word
The use of the R-Word is hurtful and demeaning to people with intellectual disabilities. Join Special Olympics and youth leaders in eliminating use of the words “retard” or “retarded” and supporting Special Olympics athletes.
Be a Fan of Winter Games
Special Olympics Illinois athletes, coaches and volunteers from around the state converged on the Galena area Feb. 2-4 for the 30th annual Winter Games. Chestnut Mountain Resort (Galena) was the site of skiing and snowshoeing events, and Five Flags Center (Dubuque, Iowa) is the venue for skating events.
