Special Olympics athletes enjoy the scarves made for them at the Opening Ceremonies of the 2012 Special Olympics Illinois Winter Games in Galena. Illinois received more than 1,150 handmade scarves this year.

The youngest of four daughters, Ashley Jones watched her three sisters compete in basketball and with traveling soccer teams. Special Olympics offered Ashley the chance to be “just like them” as she trains and competes in many summer and winter sports. Premade Sports Kits Now Available
Palos Sports partners with Special Olympics to provide the Young Athletes Program with all their necessary equipment. Now, at a
reduced price, they are offering premade kits for many of the sports that Special Olympics Illinois offers. The kits include all the necessary equipment a coach will need to start training in each of the Special Olympics sports.
